Shortlist for the week ending 17 August, 2007
Saturday, August 18th, 20071. Bitchy Jones’s Diary: More Than Words
(nominated by Dandelion)
So come the revolution everyone will be happy. Well except a few manky old prodoms who will find there is much less need for they’re spanky services now there are a bunch of women out and happy who actually *enjoy* spanking men so much they do it for free.
2. The Big Side Order: Fishcakes
(nominated by Anna)
It has since stood on the kitchen worktop in an expectant yet ultimately idle manner, along with the baffling Italian coffee machine and something which may or may not produce crêpes. My money is on the latter, seeing as I have only the barest notion of what a crêpe might be and even less idea of what ingredients to use. To be perfectly honest I thought crêpes were a kind of heavy shoe.
3. Planet Me: There’s Always Someone Cooler Than You
(nominated by Swiss Toni)
If I am lucky, he will remember fragments of these moments when he is grown up. I remember a cycle travelling across the back garden of number 93. I remember my brother falling onto a broken glass in a pub car park. Soon, the last survivor of the first world war will be dead. The only survivor of Paschendale is 108 now.
4. rockpool in the kitchen: Going Mental 2. Chapter 1.
(nominated by Clare)
If we want to advance to a more enlightened less prejudiced view of the mentally ill, if we are to listen to them more seriously, to take them more seriously, then this ambivalence needs to be understood and taken into account. I am ambivalent myself: as you will see.
5. Secret Life of a TV Controller: More ‘F**ck Off’ films, please
(nominator’s name removed by request)
Here is me trying to shift the Youth Channel up a gear, and here they are, television’s true Dark Masters commanding me to repeat Julian’s dirty tabloid factual past (you can tell he was never a ‘Head of Documentaries’).
6. Thoughts and Tirades, Rants and Ruminations: August 12, 2007
(nominated by Joseph)
Speaking of motherless babies homes, I am, coincidentally, in the process of building an orphanage with another dying (or possibly already dead) benefactor and could use the extra infusion of cash to help defray the costs of the wave pool and jai lai court I am thinking of adding to the grounds.
7. Woman of experience: Lost in blogging?
(nominated by Peach)
At times she has been surprised at the level of intensity apparent in the online activities of certain bloggers, particularly in in terms of their online geographical spread and alacrity of their comments. She wonders if maybe their offline lives are suffering as a result and suggests that the following are almost certainly signs of diminishing reality.
