It’s a short shortlist this week, with a hint of controversy surrounding Lyle’s nomination of Charlie Brooker’s post Thanks to China We Have A Blueprint for 2012 at Comment is Free. I’m linking to it, because it is excellent, and well worth a read, but I can’t in all conscience shortlist it, because it is not a personal blog. Sorry.

   The Test of English for Offensive Communication is being introduced as a result of numerous student complaints that when they go overseas, they can’t understand the abuse being hurled at them.

2. Freaky Trigger: After the Goldrush

   I’m not suggesting that fame and fortune is the main reason any of our athletes compete, but it’s got to be a nice bonus, and the fact is that following these Games some of our winners are going to end up a lot more famous than others.

   Local competition, with not the tiniest hint of sneering sour grapes you understand, has dubbed it the Golden Cockroach.
