He doesn’t do permalinks, the luddite. But ‘Once Upon a Time’ is the most brilliant wonderful thing I’ve read this week.
Some careful sleuthing has revealed a hidden permalink for the above post…
What about Ground Hog stories from Canada? *(insert evil laugh here)
What do you mean asta ?
Great heavens, Holmes!!! That is astounding!!!

Toast - the future.
Grace Dent’s TV OD: Only a game show.
Is this a “true” blog? Well, it has dated entries and archives. Is it too “corporate”, being on the Radio Times site and all? Well, it’s still just one person’s opinion, just like the rest of us.
Is it the best summing up of Celeb Big Bro that I’ve read, written by someone who actually watches and cares about the show? Oh yes.
I’m nominating MBIAT’s There are times when I should never open my mouth. because it’s classic zed.
Mike poses an interesting question. There are a number of “blogs” I read that are daily columns in internet form. In other words, the author is paid to come up with x amount of words or column inches per day and/or per week. I consider them columnists. They are employees. That doesn’t make their opinions any less sincere, but I can’t say I think of them as bloggers.
Very sound point re. the “getting paid for it” thing, asta. Context is key, and all that. It’s just that Grace Dent writes with something of the freedom of a personal blogger, and… oh I dunno, let the shortlister decide.
Anyhow. Here’s a great post on the early loss of religious faith.
Pandemian: Life under fallout conditions.
What happens when one of your friends goes vegetarian?
This, obviously…

I’ve only recently discovered Kris, of I’m not a Girl, not yet a Wino. For posts like Bygones, I’ll be back often.
I want to nominate LC despite this post:

A really well thought out look at a very local issue from the perspective of a canal boat. I can’t really explain why I like it but being somewhat immersed in this area it struck me as very refreshing. Lots of linky goodness and research too.
Just one more nomination…

Mike, can you clear up a confusion I have?
I remember you first linking to Grace Dent, and I also remember (I think) you linking to a blog by ex-housemate Grace, Queen Bitch. But they’re not the same person, are they? That photo looks nothing like the ex housemate.
They’re not the same person.
Overnight Editor, again:

[Sorry for the OT but:
Oh I do wish that #17 One more slice would allow anonymous comments, I’d love to comment but don’t have an active Blogger account. Thanks to Annie Rhiannon for recommending it.]

Going to the doctors.
OK. I just stumbled across this completely by accident in my site stats, but it’s a great post:
NotJustAHatStand: 60 Years Young
It’s sentimental, perhaps, but then that’s just the mood I’m in. It’s my dad’s 60th tomorrow
Retro Boy. Temptation.
I want to nominate Islandbaby http://www.islandbaby.blogspot.com/ for being Indian. Great pictures, great words.
Carolyn: we need a specific post rather than a whole blog. Did you have one in mind?

’s OK, I’ve visited Island Baby and would like to nominate the following post: “Sui Generis: in India“
Zinnia has beaten me to it with Edvard Moonke, although it was a toss-up between the one she recommends and this one.
i hate weddings too, but this was exquisitely written: of rings and bonds.
Let’s have the beautiful Ariel of http://fromfuckuptofab.blogspot.com up there with the best of ‘em. Her life sounds somewhat troubled yet she never gripes, just sends it up, often with acerbic wit, like here:
http://fromfuckuptofab.blogspo.....d-out.html
when she is not asking universal questions, like here:
http://fromfuckuptofab.blogspo.....ution.html
Let’s give her something to smile about for once!
A two parter from e at Purple Pen:

Part 2

Fast Eddie’s Bullet, Mirror, mirror…
