“I was determined not to be in the slightest bit interested in yet another bloody blog post about cats…. and yet here I was being definitely moved by this touching tale of one man’s love for his furry companion. I’ll be voting for knitting blogs next, mark my words…. An excellent post, damn your eyes.”

    No booting upstairs into the Hall of Fame for Bête de Jour just yet! The criteria are as follows:

    1. Being shortlisted for Post of the Week on five or more occasions.

    2. Winning Post of the Week on one or more occasions.

    Bete has won twice, but has only been shortlisted five three times - so it’s not Game Over just yet.

    It might also interest people to know that no less than nineteen fine weblogs are currently teetering on the threshold of the hallowed Hall of Fame; all are awaiting either one more shortlisting, or one more outright win.

    OK, here’s the full breakdown (of 18 blogs, not 19):

    In need of one more shortlisting (no outright win necessary): Boob Pencil, Dad Gone Mad, I Am Livid, It’s A Life, May Contain Notts, 123 I Love You, Random Acts Of Reality, This Is This.

    In need of an outright win: Bitchy Jones Diary, Don’t Call Me Joe, Down In Me, JerryChicken, Mommy Has A Headache, Pandemian, Reluctant Nomad, Rockpool In The Kitchen, The QC Report, Woman Of Experience (who has requested no further nominations).

    Oh, and a correction to comment #2 above: Bete Du Jour has won twice and has been shortlisted three times (two of which led to outright wins).
