March 24th, 2008
If you have a post you want to nominate, please leave a link in the comments below.
The deadline for nominations is Friday March 28th.

I’d like to nominate this post, please. Short, simple, gentle, ruminative and really, I feel, rather touching.
I promise I don’t do this deliberately when I nominate, but I’d like to push the limits of what’s permissible under the rules. I know, so shoot me. But the series of six posts - or rather, one story broken down into six parts - by ‘Down In Me’, entitled ‘A day in the life of an oral fixation’. Apart from being superb writing, it’s also bloody inventive and different - something that is all too often lacking in blogs these days.
The series begins here here , and ends here.
I’d like to nominate Tom Reynolds’ post - ‘Exit, Pursued by a Bear’. It sums up much of what he writes about - it’s a new twist on that highlights the frustrating, maddening and just plain rudeness of people who believe the world revolves around them.

Ariel’s raw account:

It’s a couple of weeks old and it’s [breathe deep, people] livejournal, but it’s the most damned informative post I’ve read on a blog in a while. I know things about having sex with people of other cultures that I’m not sure how I would have found out otherwise (bar the obvious way)

Bete du Jour raised a smile with this tribute:

Note also the new blog referenced at the top which reminded me why I started blogging.
NB I’ve just remembered I’m a judge this weekend.
It takes me the best part of 30 minutes just to get the outfit on.

Re #4: Ariel’s in the Hall of Fame, and so she can’t be shortlisted.
anna,
It could just be me - but I don’t have a livejournal account and need to sign in to read your nominated post…any chance it could be made public?
Sarah - it’s not just you. I couldn’t read Anna’s nominated post, either. Maybe she could be fined or something? Worth thinking about, certainly.
Administrator(s) - as above. Is there a way that this can be made public for us? Otherwise, well, it’s not really possible to judge (and enjoy) the standard of the submitted works. Thanks in advance…..and sorry for the bother.
sorry - it was working yesterday, both here and with everyone else I showed it to - but I guess might have got too much traffic or something? You can certainly read the cached version, but I suppose the fact that livejournal have done something to it may exclude it from the competition because it’s not open to all. Still, it’s still interesting to read.
And Thus There Will Be NO fine.
Brilliant writing here on a US blog about dresses. Yes, dresses. Usually about MAKING dresses from vintage 1950s patterns, but occasionally some brilliant fiction creeps in too, as here:

I could nominate any number of A Dress A Day’s other posts too as the author writes deliciously well. You might consider an alternative option here, in elegiac, autobiographical mode:

Thanks, Anna, that was good of you. In recognition of your kind deed, the fine has been halved. Harmony rules.
A v. interesting post it was, too. I’m having a shower then stepping on the first plane to Japan. Just saying.
Administrator(s) - you will have been worried, I know, but Anna has apologised and admitted to wrongdoing and sly treachery. Crisis over.

NOMINATIONS FOR THIS WEEK ARE NOW CLOSED.
The shortlist will be appearing soon.
