Shortlist for week ending Friday, 25 January 2008
Previous Shortlists : Feed
January 26th, 2008

The next Post Of The Week will be announced on Sunday evening.
Please note that nominations for next week cannot be accepted until then.

HOWEVER, we would like to invite you the reader to vote on these shortlisted posts, alongside our Post Of The Week Judges - which means YOU now all get a vote and can all play a part in choosing the Post of the Week. And we’d like you to do this every week too!

So, if you’d like to add your twopenny’s worth to the judging of the shortlisted posts, please pick your FIVE favourite posts from the list and award 5 points for your most favourite, 4 for the next best and so on. Then please email them to peacharse@yahoo.com by 6pm on Sunday evenings. Your votes will be totted up and put with our Judge’s votes and the winning post announced as usual on a Sunday night. Please note, we don’t want you to just pick ONE post that you think is great, but FIVE out of the list, and award them 5-1 points accordingly.

Please email if you have any queries, otherwise, happy reading…

Onto this week’s shortlist:
1. Bete de jour: The 30 Year Old Virgin?
As it happens, I’m not. I’ve had sex with two women. Ange wanted to know about it. About them. I tried to play it down. I didn’t particularly want to tell her. ‘It was just, you know, normal. Jesus. What? Sex is sex, isn’t it?’

nominated by Mike

2. Ex-Courtesan in Transition (Again): The Libido Two-Step
I’m guessing one thing I’m not too happy about is that I’m old enough now to have gone through lots of stages and actually have enough years to have that perspective and that many stages to write about. Now would be when you hear a Sigh.

3. Guyana-Gyal: The pure white line
I read somewhere, a butterfly flutter he wings in one country and earthquake happen in another part of the world.

Reality, me dear, ain’t pretty like a butterfly.

nominated by Zinnia Cyclamen

4. L’Eggs Up and Laughing: The Crying Room
Tricky squirms and is released early from his stroller but then he starts his vocabulary practice in the middle of the first speech and so C and I take turns holding him in the Crying Room. When it is my turn I think how odd it is that I am watching the flow of all those tears from this side of the glass, the familiar waves of grief washing over the faces of this man’s family and friends.

nominated by Zinnia Cyclamen

5. The Lilli Pad: Broken
I sat in the dust on the side of the road, looking back at the broken down car. No point in spilling the tears that had threatened to spill, besides, it would only panic the young ones. It was simply a time to wait, and this was a wait that would not be fruitless…an easy wait. NRMA membership be blessed, along with friendly folk and their land-line.

6. The Misssy M Misssives: In Utero
The following is to be viewed by those that are ready for the truth about childbirth. If, like Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men, “you can’t handle the truth”, look away now and come back in a few days time. Or go and have a look at some fluffy Mommy bloggers’ sites and read about how magical and spiritual it all is.

These blogs also act as natural insomnia remedies, if you are in need of something soporific.

nominated by peach

7. Tired Mummy: Disconnect
I’ve been missing Katie a lot. Yesterday my husband and I went over for a visit and we took her down to the stables to visit with the horses. She enjoyed that and so did we. She was none to happy when we took her back to her house though.
